Escalating instead of cooling down

Yesterday's Daily Record brings news that Kittitas County commissioners are calling for support from other counties for their disastrous stand on the Upper County water issue. Our commissioners seem to have become obsessed and, worse, distracted by the mess they've gotten us into.

Almost exactly a month ago the Yakima Herald-Republic's editorial board called for a cooling down of the rhetoric and bluster, but the commissioners seem to be moving in the opposite direction.

Are they just rumors?

Anyone who pays attention to county government has heard the rumors: taxpayers' money spent on avoidable lawsuits, county commissioners ignoring legal advice from their own lawyers, good employees quitting because of poor management or being fired for odd reasons.

The question is, is any of this true? Or are they just rumors?
