Supreme Court oral arguments: KC and C. WA Homebuilders vs. E. WA Growth Managment Board

This case was over ten years in the making. A decision isn't expected for several months; meanwhile, it's interesting to watch this.

  1. Thanks for posting the entire proceedings, Steve. The article in the Daily Record by Mike Johnston, after re-reading it again this morning, does not accurately describe the full content and tone of what transpired in the Temple of Justice. I'm not surprised as that's SOP.

It's highly unfortunate and unnecessary for this hearing to have occurred. The County Commisioners have been ignoring and playing-the-slippery-eel when it comes to issues of governance (this example is with respect to GMA) and it has cost this county dearly in money, opportunities lost and reputation. The inability to legaly and properly discharge their duty has been aided by a portion of the County's "Legal Community" at almost every step and turn. If they wanted to "save money", professional and experienced counsel would have been procurred at the beginning. The past and current Commisioners wanted to select and direct the legal support for their decision, not listen to how case and administrative law would prompt a change in their plans. The Daily Record has been complicit in this dysfunction too. They have time and time again, been either unwilling or incapable of asking the uncomfortable questions of the Commisioners and County staff.

Perhaps there should be no surprise when one of the justices made an indirect observation and subsequent question about the "Tin-foil Hat" politics of Kittitas County. I've had enough political pathology over the last twentyfive years and am hoping that you, and several others, gain office to put this County back-on-the-rails.
